You can view Magritte’s painting Carte Blanche at:
Magritte’s Carte Blanche is one of his most haunting paintings, brilliantly baffling our expectations about spatial organisation, just by bringing forward as occluding segments one strip of landscape background, and one tree-trunk. I wanted to see how the effect would work, if feasible, as a fly-by animation. That required a change of motif. For an animation the central motif must not touch the ground. So I chose a Magritte-style floating pipe instead.
The animation above is work in progress, a preliminary demonstration that the idea is practicable.
